Team Rossler is Officially Official

Today I officially became a Mom and Paul and I officially became parents together for the first time. We stood before a judge at 2:00pm today with our boys and our amazing attorney, Becki Murphy, and the judge made it official. Jackson got to hit the gavel on cue and Lincoln got to say the official words at the judges bench.

The best moment for our family! We feel so blessed to have this day!

In October of 2014, Paul and I made a decision to start our home study for adoption so that we could move forward with adoption for our family. Our home study was complete on December 31, 2014. I was told that I was officially “paper pregnant”. That was such a funny term to me at the time. I had no idea what God had in store for us, but we trusted in Him with everything throughout the entire process. We were officially in a waiting game to get picked by a family.

I’m not going to go into details on this post about what happened, but I am going to share that Paul and I were granted guardianship of our nephews on Friday, January 23, 2015. I had no idea that guardianship would turn into a forever life with our nephews. It took me about 8 months to fully realize that this was the plan God had for our lives and our two nephews were meant to be in our home forever. They both needed to have our entire focus on them to help them heal and grow and become all they are meant to be in this world.

I’m writing this post to share the joy I have in announcing that our nephews are officially and forever our boys. They are my sons! I am their mommy. Paul is their daddy. We are forever a family! I am thankful that our Heavenly Father makes all things new and brings restoration, hope, and grace to our lives.

Our boys are chosen, they are loved, and they are forever our boys.

Thank you to Judge Glassco for treating our boys and our family with so much kindness today.

Jackson sitting in Judge Glassco’s chair! I see a future!:)

This was right after we walked out of the court and we all hugged. I still can’t believe it’s official. What a day!

I know that my trust is in my Heavenly Father and His plans are always far greater than any plans I could ever dream of for my family. “”I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come.”

Jeremiah 29:11 NIRV

I am grateful for this day! December 1, 2017 will forever be our family’s birthday. Yes, we have been family for the past 2.5 years, but there is something very special about making our family official in court. It is a lot like making husband and wife official through marriage. We are forever bonded. We are forever family! #teamrossler #rosslerboys

I would like to share the three scriptures below that capture a part of this day for us:

1. “God chose us to belong to Christ before the world was created. He chose us to be holy and without blame in his eyes. He loved us. So he decided long ago to adopt us as his children. He did it because of what Jesus Christ has done. It pleased God to do it. All those things bring praise to his glorious grace. God freely gave us his grace because of the One he loves.”

Ephesians 1:4-6 NIRV

2. “Again he says, “I will put my trust in him.” (Isaiah 8:17) And again he says, “Here I am. Here are the children God has given me.” (Isaiah 8:18)”

Hebrews 2:13 NIRV

3. My favorite verse since I was a little girl!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways remember him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIRV

Our Family!

Heading up to the courtroom! The boys love escalators.:)

Leaving the courthouse the boys wanted to ride the escalator one more time. This man right here is the biggest gift and I’m beyond thankful I get to call him my husband and my best friend. #blessedbeyondmeasure

I’m so thankful my best friend, Carrie Jane, was there with us today. She captured the special moments from today.

We went for ice cream at the Rose Rock Micro Creamery at The BoxYard to celebrate this special day.

Tonight we went out to celebrate as a family. We went to Guthrie Green to eat dinner, see the lights, and ride the Christmas Train.

Thank you to Rhonda, April, and Kaylee from Tulsa T-shirt factory for blessing us with our “Team Rossler” tshirts. They are perfect! We are officially forever Team Rossler! 💚

  4. […] The reality is my boys, Lincoln and Jackson, literally made me a mom overnight and I have no doubt that God was and is in all of those details. Some of you may already know our background story, but I will share again that both of our boys once referred to me as “Aunt Halley” because I was their biological aunt before I become their adopted mom. You can read more about our adoption story here. […]
