One Year Later

When I suddenly realized this month marked 1 year into our wellness journey, I felt I needed to share my heart about this past year and how it has positively impacted our lives.

One year ago this month Paul and I embarked on a serious wellness journey as a family and our lives have been forever changed for the better.

A year ago our little Jackson was taking antibiotics monthly and breathing treatments daily. He was tested and retested for autinmune and many other things through blood work without any answers. He was constantly sick and we were left frustrated without any answers. At the same time, Lincoln was struggling with sleep issues including not being able to fall asleep at a decent hour. The combined challenges were difficult on all of us as a family.

A year ago we were not eating healthy, we used toxic cleaning products, we burned toxic candles, and we washed our clothes in a toxic detergent followed by toxic dryer sheets. We all washed our hair and body with products that should not even be allowed on the shelves at stores. It’s maddening when I think about it.

I received my Young Living Starter Kit the first week in November 2016. I decided to buy my YL Starter Kit because we were having success using lavender essential with Lincoln to help with sleep. I had no idea how much our lives would change after that.

You see, that starter kit introduced me to an amazing community of people who are also on a mission to keep their family’s healthy. I have gained an enormous amount of knowledge through that community and through our own research this year.

Paul and I sat down and watched a documentary a month after receiving our Starter Kit that and that documentary followed by our own research prompted a big change in our lives. If you have not watched the documentary, The Human Experiment, I highly encourage you to watch it when you have time.

When we bought our starter kit it allowed us to get 11 amazing oils and a glorious diffuser along with a wholesale membership to Young Living. We knew we had some great products in the oils we purchased, but we had no idea how much they would become an important part of our daily lives.

Once I opened my starter kit I set out to master the oils in the kit and we started the journey of slowly changing all of the toxic products in our home. It was the very best decision we could have ever made for our family. Our oils became our first line of defense and the tools we used for prevention in all areas of our health.

One of the next big changes we made was with the cleaning products we used. We threw everything away and switched to Thieves Cleaner! We switched detergent to Thieves and stopped using drying sheets and replaced the with wool dryer balls topped with Purification and Lemon essential oils.

I look back on this past year and I feel grateful for stepping out of my comfort zone and stepping into a wild world of plant juice and toxin free living. We were in a desperate place with the boys regarding their health, sleep, and emotions. I had no idea how that one “yes” would forever change our lives for the better. I’m beyond thankful for the knowledge I gained and the changes we have made as a family.

Here we are a year later and Jackson has not had one antibiotic or one breathing treatment in an entire year. That is truly amazing when you stop and think about it! Lincoln is doing much better with sleep when we use his oils and the diffuser next to his bed. Young Living has become a lifestyle for our family in every area of our life. We switched our products and switched where we spend our money.

I know I can’t control every toxin or every toxin in the environment, but I’m going to do my best to control the things we consume in our house and the way we respond to our bodies through prevention and wellness. I’m forever changed for the better because of this Young Living journey and I will spend the rest of my life trying to educate and share my heart about the changes people can make to better support their family. It’s my heart and my life’s purpose. It’s worth all of the hours I have spent and the time invested because I know I am helping people. This is literally my job now and I’m thankful it crossed my path and I’m thankful I said yes.

If you want to know more about our journey or more about the food and products we changed, please feel free to reach out and comment or email me directly. I would love to help in any way that I can and answer any questions you might have. Also, I teach monthly classes on Facebook and I would love to have you join a class anytime you would like to join.
